I have been thinking about blogging for several months now, I just did not know how or if I really should. As you can tell...my decision was a YES!!! The reason I started this blog was to be able to reach out to people who are battling weight loss. I wanted them to have somewhere they could go to start the transformation into a healthier lifestyle.
A little about myself...
I am a wife and mother of two wild, crazy, fun, loving boys. They are 4 year old Deon "Uno" and 2 year old Destin. I have been married for almost 5 years, I met Deon Sr. shortly after graduating from North Carolina Central University with a degree in Physical Education concentration Exercise Sport Science. I also have a Master's degree in Public Health from Walden University. I currently do research at UNC on a great project that is very beneficial to all our current and future participants.
When I was younger I was always the "chunky" child. My favorite meal was a quarter pounder from Mc Donalds, which my dad so greatly stopped by every day after he picked me up from school. I was always athletic and busy playing almost every sport, however my terrible eating habits never allowed me to lose even an ounce. I considered myself to be a fairly decent size during high school and college; I always tried to lose 10-15lbs. Upon graduating from undergrad I moved to Chicago for grad school, which was short lived. I got home sick and moved by home. In 2007, I found out I was pregnant and gained 69lbs...wheeeeew! I was 222lbs when I delivered my first son. This was very hard on my back, knees, and my self-esteem. I felt HORRIBLE!!!! Upon delivering Uno I begin working very hard to get this weight OFF! It was harder than I ever thought it would be. I was a personal trainer before pregnancy so I assumed it would be very easy for me...NOT! After losing all of the weight, we found out I was pregnant again...which our first son had just turned 1. This second pregnancy I gained 54lbs and I was able to lose it all or most of it before Destin turned 1.
With all that said...I know how hard it is to lose weight. That is why I am here to help. On this blog I will be providing weight loss tips, foods to eat and foods to stay away from, exercises, and pretty much anything that involves your health.
Stay tuned my transformation pals!
